The recent release of an unreleased concert by John Coltrane is a reminder of the genius of the American saxophonist. With around thirty titles, this new playlist confirms the artistry of this phenomenal musician.

The keystone of this program is the set broadcast in the mid-1960s by Belgian television, which bears witness to the strength of the compositions, beginning with the poignant “Naima.” Essential testimonials, the videos relating to the fellow travelers of Trane fill out the portrait. The faithful pianist McCoy Tyner thus offers an intense recital; drummer Elvin Jones and his project Jazz Machine welcome a certain Ravi Coltrane; and the impressive Archie Shepp is available via his unifying Attica Blues Big Band. Other figures attest to the thirst for encounters of the author of "Giant Steps." Among these stars, let us note Duke Ellington, Don Cherry, and even Miles Davis with whom John Coltrane will form the backbone of a historic quintet. Finally, the part devoted to disciples is also the most important with creators as varied as Shabaka Hutchings, Kamasi Washington, and even Émile Parisien.
